Honoring Our Heroes: A Memorable Memorial Day at A.N. Webber Logistics

Memorial Day holds a special place in the hearts of the A.N. Webber Logistics. This year, over 150 people gathered at our headquarters to pay tribute to the heroes who have given their lives in service to our nation. As a company deeply rooted in values of honor, courage, and integrity, we are proud to say that our workforce consists of many veterans, and nearly 90% of our employees are either veterans themselves or have close ties to the military.

The event, which took place at the A.N. Webber entrance, was a moving tribute to those who have served. Attendees brought lawn chairs and gathered to participate in a patriotic commemoration, honoring service personnel who were Killed in Action (KIA), Prisoners of War (POW), Missing in Action (MIA), Wounded in Action (WIA), and those lost to PTSD-suicide.

A Special Speech by Raelynn Roman: Our keynote speaker, Raelynn Roman, shared a heartfelt message of wisdom and hope. Raelynn, who lost her son, Sgt. John A. Spiekhout, US Army National Guard, in 2016, spoke powerfully about recovery and resilience. Her story touched many and highlighted the importance of supporting families who have experienced similar losses.

Meeting Surviving Family Members: Attendees had the honor of meeting the surviving family members of Joseph Butcher, KIA in WWII during the Battle of Guadalcanal, and Donald Mathy, KIA by sniper gunshot in WWII in Germany. Their presence served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless families throughout history.

Displays and Performances: The event featured a display of military vehicles courtesy of The Veterans Garage, adding a tangible connection to the history we were commemorating. Harley Davidson Riders delivered a powerful 30-second Revolution by revving up their engines full throttle while the crowd waved American flags, creating a moment of unity and patriotic fervor.

Performances by Matt Yeager, who sang the National Anthem and "God Bless the USA," added to the solemn yet uplifting atmosphere. The event was emceed by Denny Case, a local radio host and highly respected DJ, who kept the proceedings respectful and engaging.

The Ray Olly Memorial Project: A highlight of our commitment to honoring veterans is the Ray Olly Memorial Project, unveiled last year. This tribute, featuring striking brass statues of Ray Olly and his loyal companion, Elinore, stands as a lasting symbol of hope and remembrance. Hosting this memorial on our grounds is a testament to our respect and gratitude towards those who have served.
